The Bundaberg Rowing & Accommodation Center is owned by the Bundaberg Rowing Club Inc. and operated by the Bucca Management Committee.
The first two stages of this internationally recognized training and competition facility were completed in early 2000 for the Australian Olympic Rowing Team to
utilize for training in the lead up to The Sydney Olympics. These stages included completion of the 2000 metre, 8 Lane
buoyed course and held start when required, together with the boat/equipment shed and the catering and ablutions block.
Stage three focused on the construction of the 96 bed dormitory adjacent to the other buildings on the river bank. The addition of this accommodation unit has greatly expanded the variety of community groups which can
utilize and enjoy this facility, including the State Emergency Service, Camp Quality, Music Support Groups, State & Private Schools and Service Clubs.
In January 2003, the Club purchased a 4.3 ha parcel of free hold and lease hold land on the river adjacent to the existing area to consolidate the security of tenure of the whole site which is required for future
planning and development.
Further plans envisaged for this facility include a full free-weight and cardio gym for rowing & kayaking cross-training, and the development of recreation facilities & equipment for community use. Construction of a community/sporting hall, additional accommodation units for small individual groups and advanced spectator facilities will truly elevate the status of this already unique facility.
